Major Changes To Total Divas Cast
The seventh season of E! reality show Total Divas will have a very different look when it returns to the air later this year.
Long-time cast member Eva Marie (who has been on the show since the first season) will not be returning, and Paige (who joined in season three) is unlikely to be involved either, with her WWE status currently up in the air.
To balance the cast, E! has signed the supremely popular Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and her real-life best friend Nia Jax to make up the cast, alongside series regulars Naomi, Natalya, and the Bellas (and their partners Jimmy Uso, Daniel Bryan, and John Cena. Natalya’s husband Tyson Kidd did not appear in season six).
Bliss has come on leaps and bounds since her call up to the main roster last year, surpassing the likes of Bayley and Sasha Banks in terms of popularity, and becoming the first women since the brand split to wear both the Raw and SmackDown Live women’s championships.
Bliss and Jax often post cutesy social media posts of the two of them goofing around and having fun together, which will no doubt be amplified and indulged further on the E! show. It is not yet confirmed whether Bliss’s boyfriend – NXT’s Blake Murphy – will be part of the cast.
The remainder of the cast has not yet been confirmed, though Renee Young, Lana, and Maryse are all expected to return, alongside their significant others Dean Ambrose, Rusev, and The Miz.
With offshoot show Total Bellas picking up the stories of Cena and Nikki’s wedding plans and Bryan and Brie’s first baby, E! is hoping that the addition of Bliss and Jax to Total Divas will help to spike ratings, which fell to their lowest levels during the sixth season. In some case, ratings for the show were down to just a third of what they were in the first season, which routinely pulled well over 1 million viewers.
