WWF Unreleased: 1985-1996 DVD Coming Soon!

As wrestling rarity aficionados, the news of WWE’s impending ‘Unreleased: 1985-1996’ DVD triple-disc set fills the HoW office with child-like anticipation. Equally thrilling is the news that Sean Mooney will co-host the set, nostalgically transporting us back in time to our fondest childhood wrestling memories.

In the official synopsis WWE states:

“WWE unlocks the vault and brings you never-before-seen matches from 1986-1995. Check out these unreleased hidden gems featuring some of the greatest Superstars in WWE history.

— WWE has gone deep into its vault and uncovered exclusive content that you can only find right here on this set,

— Features Superstars such as Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect and more,

— Never-before-seen matches from the years 1986 through 1995!”

The possibilities are tantalizing. Several fascinating match-ups have taken place over the years on house shows and international tours which – with the occasional exception of fan-cam footage – have never seen the light of day.

So what could be on there? How about The Ultimate Warrior vs. Sid Justice from 1992? Or Hulk Hogan vs. Jake Roberts from the same year? A 1994 match between WWF Champion Bret Hart and Macho Man Randy Savage from Japan in 1994 would be must-see. A 1991 six-man tag from WWF’s debut in Northern Ireland saw the legendary Andre the Giant team with The Rockers to battle the Orient Express and Mr. Fuji, in one of the Giant’s final WWF matches and a battle royal at the Nassau Coliseum in May of that year was his last – both could be included.

Those scenarios are mere speculation at this point of course, but regardless of what appears this set is sure to be a favourite with collectors everywhere. The pre-order is expected to be available from early September.
