Arnold Furious: With Jim Crockett attempting his second PPV event the Bunkhouse Stampede, after Vince sabotaged Starrcade by scheduling Survivor Series for the same night, things were starting to look up for the NWA. Naturally Vince McMahon wanted to wreck his second PPV too so he ran a free show on USA the same night; the first annual Royal Rumble. It wasn’t a PPV event but it is the first Rumble (unless you consider the 1987 one to count, which few do).
